We're looking to hire a Head of Data Engineering to lead our growing Data Engineering team. If you enjoy seeing your work deployed into ‘real-life’ applications, this is the perfect role for you. The Role
As Head of Data Engineering you will:
• Lead and manage a team of Data Engineers, ensuring the successful delivery of data engineering projects
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing technical expertise and guidance on data engineering solutions
• Contribute to the development of the company’s data engineering offering, including the definition of processes, standards, and tooling
• Participate in the pre-sales process, providing input on the feasibility of data engineering solutions and estimation of effort required
• Ensure the quality of data engineering deliverables, through the definition of quality standards and the implementation of quality control processes
• Contribution technically to projects where required, as part of the project team
• Coach and mentor team members, providing guidance on technical and professional development
• Manage team resources, including the allocation of work
• Monitor project progress, identifying and addressing risks and issues as necessary
• Produce accurate and timely reports on project progress for internal and external stakeholders
Required Skills
Technical
• SQL & Python, both to a high level of proficiency
• Management of relational databases (SQL Server, Postgres)
• Good understanding of cloud deployment (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Version controlling code (e.g. Git)
• Experience with any of the following: Airflow, Neo4J, Django, Tableau, PowerBI, PySpark
• Experience in Data Science (e.g. machine learning, statistics, data visualisation)
Non-Technical
• 5+ years’ experience in a data-centric role
• Strong technical background in data engineering, with experience of a wide range of data management technologies and platforms
• Hands-on experience of leading and delivering data engineering projects
• Strong client-facing and communication skills
• Experience of working in a consultancy environment
• Experience of pre-sales activities, including the estimation of effort required for data engineering solutions
• Ability to define and implement quality assurance processes
